Black Creek Trail begins from the primary trailhead at 3835 Union Street in North Chili, NY, and winds through a dense forested corridor alongside its namesake waterway. From the trailhead, hikers follow a mostly flat dirt path that meanders through hardwood stands and wetlands, with occasional wooden footbridges crossing small drainages. Connector trails intersect the main route at several points, allowing options for shorter loops or extended out-and-back hikes deeper into the park. The terrain remains easy throughout, but spring melt and summer rains can leave portions muddy or temporarily flooded.
This route is open year-round and also used for cross-country skiing in winter. Wildlife sightings are common, especially deer and songbirds, and ticks are often present in warmer months. Though Black Creek runs alongside much of the trail, there are no developed water sources, and untreated water should not be consumed. Despite being close to Rochester, this is one of the quieter routes in Monroe County, offering a peaceful walk through mature woods and wetland habitats.
