This route begins at a trailhead map box on Salmon Creek Road in Northampton Park, following a mix of unnamed trails and the informal Salmon Creek Loop. Shortly after starting, hikers must ford or rock-hop across Salmon Creek—expect wet conditions, especially in spring and fall. After the crossing, the trail weaves through hardwood forest rich with ferns, moss, and scattered wildlife like deer or wild turkeys. While much of the terrain is level, sections can be muddy, and the path may become faint or overgrown.
A small wooden bridge over Salmon Creek appears on a narrower inner loop, adding a quiet highlight. Trail markings are minimal, so it’s helpful to bring a GPS or map app for navigation. Dogs are welcome on leash, and hikers should pack out all trash. This is a short, peaceful walk ideal for locals looking for a mellow woodland outing with light creek crossings and year-round access.
