Tie Mill Road - FS 2402

This is a moderately maintained forest road that navigates through the western end of Florence County and is open to on-road vehicles as well as off-road vehicles. The trail has a firm dirt/ gravel base for its entire length. The trail's width is just over one vehicle wide in most areas, but some portions of the trail do open up more, allowing for easier passage of vehicles. The terrain on this trail and in the surrounding areas is gentle rolling hills, surrounded by dense forest on all sides. Trailside undergrowth in this area is very dense and can lead to some poor sight lines around corners. However, the trail has very few sharp hairpin turns, resulting in relatively good sight lines overall. This trail can be enjoyed at both a relaxed pace or at a more spirited pace when space allows. Views of the surrounding landscape are limited on this trail due to the dense forests around the trail. However, thanks to the variety of trees, as well as the dense forest coverage, this area can be a fantastic destination for fall-time color tours. Cell service across the length of this trail varies but can be spotty at best sometimes.
