Trail Overview
Florence County F5 Quinlan Spur Road runs from its intersection with the Nicolet State Trail to its intersection with Tile Mill Road. This is a short spur trail that is used to access the western portion of Florence County's ATV and SxS trail system. This is the first half of this trail if ridden from the Nicolet State Trail is a packed gravel road with rolling hills and short, wide corners. The Trail in this portion is wide enough for 2 SxS's to pass each other at slow speeds. The rolling hills on this portion of the trail also make it a great spot to stop and take in some views during the fall color change. The steep terrain in this area can also lead to some trail erosion after heavy rainstorms. There is also the possibility for small mud holes to develop. The second portion of this trail is narrow and will not easily allow for vehicles to pass each other. Reversing may be required in some instances, due to the dense, overgrown trailside vegetation. The section of the trail has large swaths of wild raspberry bushes which surround the trail sides. These will typically come into full season from mid-July and last until mid to late August. The cell service on this trail is generally acceptable, but downloaded maps should still be considered if unfamiliar with the area, as cell coverage is lacking on many of the surrounding trails.
Difficulty
This trail is of very mild difficulty, and does not have any serious obstacles that need to be traversed. There are several hilly sections that have the potential to wash out after heavy rainfall. There are also small water/ mud spots that could show up after some rainfall. These are typically under 4 in. in depth. Additionally, the east end of the trail is very narrow and only has enough space for one SxS to navigate through at a time.
