Trail Overview

Forest Road 2158, Lost Lake Rd is a multi-use gravel Forest Road. This trail navigates from its intersection with Forest Rd 2161, to its intersection with Forest Road 2156, Halsey Lake Rd. This trail is moderately maintained, like many other gravel forest roads within the National Forest. The trail is typically smooth and flat. Washboarding will typically only appear if the trail has not been graded for a long period of time or if there has been a long dry spell. The trail has many rolling hills, as well as winding corners, which can help to increase the fun factor of the trail. Additionally, the trail's sight lines are good in most areas, which allow for a higher speed to be carried on the trail when safe. The trail is just under 2 vehicles wide for its entire length, so larger vehicles will need to slow and pull over to allow for safe passage. The scenery around this trail is mostly maturing trees, surrounded by a sparse forest floor. Some of the overgrowth present on other trails in this area is not present on a good majority of this trail. This allows for great views into the forest, as well as a higher likelihood of seeing wildlife, since they will not be obstructed by the brush. Cell service across the length of this trail varies but can be spotty at best sometimes. With that being said, traveling with downloaded maps should be considered to aid in further exploration of the area.
