Trail Overview
FS 568 is a two-track trail that runs from FS 108 to FS 333. This two-track trail has a gravel/ dirt base and is one of the few point-to-point two-track trails, as well as one of the longer two-track trails in this portion of the national forest. This trail is a good mix of gentle rolling hills in combination with gentle sweeping corners. The terrain is very mild, and the trail's largest obstacles are some shallow potholes with a firm base that could fill with water. These can be frequent in some areas and lead to a very bumpy ride, as they are almost all hard with a square edge. They are typically not any deeper than 3 inches. Scenery around the trail is very similar to that of many other trails in the area, although this trail has far fewer mature trees and is more dominated by young, maturing trees. Pine trees are scattered throughout the landscape and help to add some intermittent variety to views. There are many large hills and bowls that surround the trail and make for some excellent fall viewing. Ditch lines on this trail can be very steep, so caution will need to be taken when passing oncoming traffic. Cell service in this area is generally acceptable, and traveling with downloaded maps is not needed.
