Trail Overview
Bug Lake Road is a multi-use trail open to ATVs, SxSs, and vehicles. This dirt road travels from its intersection with Lund Road, East to where the paved portion of Bug Lake Road begins. This trail is most popular with ATVs and SxSs as the access trail to the Fireside Market and gas station is located off this trail. The trail is just under 2 vehicles wide for its entire length, and there are trees and undergrowth located directly on the edge of the trail. Speed will need to be slowed for vehicles to safely pass each other. The terrain on and around the trail is small rolling hills. This trail has a higher elevation at roughly the halfway mark. During the fall months, especially around the time when leaves are changing color, this can be very scenic. The best views can be found when traveling west to east on the trail. The Eastern end of this trail passes through the Potawatomi Reservation land, so be sure to be courteous. A portion of this trail is a groomed snowmobile trail in the winter months. The cell service on this trail is acceptable, but service can be slowed in peak summer months due to added demand on the local towers. Traveling with downloaded maps is always a good idea.
Difficulty
This trail is navigable by individuals of all experience levels. The most challenging part of this trail is its width, and some of the blind corners located throughout. After a recent rainfall, several small mud holes can develop, but these will typically remain under 3 inches deep. As with any narrow forest road, there is always the possibility of downed trees and limbs blocking the trail. Like many other trails in this area, this trail is open to ATVs and SxSs, so be sure to remain aware of all vehicle types.
