Trail Overview
Spring Pond Road Navigates from its intersection with Otter Creek Road to its intersection with Johnson Road. This is a moderately maintained dirt county forest road. The trail is just over one vehicle wide, but does have grassy trail sides which allow for simpler passing of oncoming vehicles. The terrain on and around the trail is primarily small rolling hills, with a good mix of hard and softwood trees located within the forests. These forests are less dense than others, which helps to promote a large amount of undergrowth that can obstruct views of the oncoming trail. After recent rainstorms, several small mud holes can develop on the trail. There is a small creek that runs alongside the trail on the eastern end. This is typically dry or has very little water flow, but during spring melt or after heavy rain it fills with water and can create some very picturesque scenes. During the winter months, this trail serves as a groomed snowmobile trail. The cell service on this trail is acceptable, but service can be slowed in peak summer months due to added demand on the local towers. Traveling with downloaded maps is always a good idea.
Difficulty
This trail is navigable by individuals of all experience levels. The most challenging part of this trail is its width, and some of the blind corners located throughout. After a recent rainfall, several small mud holes can develop, but these will typically remain under 3 inches deep. As with any narrow forest road, there is always the possibility of downed trees and limbs blocking the trail.
