Trail Overview

FS 9085080 is a single-lane gravel spur off FS 9085000 that climbs at a steady, mellow grade through a thick green tunnel of old-growth forest. Near 1.1 miles, the trees part around a bend to reveal an open view of Mount Adams, and at 1.8 miles a dispersed campsite offers a scenic place to stop. The main obstacles are two downed logs that encroach on the road around 1.9 and 2.1 miles; smaller 4x4s and standard-width vehicles can maneuver past them without much trouble, but wide or full-size rigs will face a tight squeeze. The road finishes deep in the woods at a flat turnaround circle with no views, shaded by old growth and large enough for about four vehicles. It is a pleasant, easy drive overall, best suited for vehicle camping and ideal for those seeking total solitude.

Difficulty

The gravel base is well-graded and stable, with minimal bumps and no significant rock or rut obstacles, which alone would place it at the easy end of the scale. The rating holds at Class 2 because of the narrow single-lane profile combined with two downed logs that intrude on the road near 1.9 and 2.1 miles; these are passable for smaller 4x4s and standard-width vehicles, but pose a real clearance limitation for full-size or wide off-road rigs.
