Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 2334014 is a single-lane gravel spur that eases downhill into a pair of excellent camps. At the first bend, a large dispersed site with a fire ring opens up with room for about four vehicles. At 0.5 miles, a second site offers a fire ring, space for a couple of vehicles, ground flat enough for tents, and an epic view of Mount Adams standing behind it. The first mile is easy and genuinely scenic. Past roughly 1 mile, though, the road narrows, and the brush closes in. About 0.2 miles farther, it deteriorates into two-foot ruts within an exceptionally tight, overgrown corridor, where it looks unmaintained for years and forces a turnaround. The recommendation is to enjoy the camps and not push past about 1.1 miles.

Difficulty

For its worthwhile first mile, the spur is easy gravel on a gentle descent with no real obstacles, well within reach of most vehicles. The rating covers that drivable, recommended portion; beyond about 1.1 miles, the road degrades into two-foot ruts in a very narrow, overgrown corridor, which is why turning around there is advised rather than continuing into far rougher terrain.
