Trail Overview

FS 243 is a hard-packed dirt forest road that provides access to several popular hiking opportunities within the National Forest. This out-and-back trail offers a peaceful drive through the woods and serves as a gateway to multiple trailheads, including Quebec Tower, Quebec Spur B1, Quebec Spur C, and Pond Mountain Trail. A small dispersed camping area along the trail provides a quiet overnight option for a single vehicle or small setup. The route currently ends at two Forest Service gates that are closed, though these closures may be seasonal depending on Forest Service access schedules and conditions. The trail is suitable for all high-clearance vehicles, as well as most smaller AWD vehicles under normal conditions. Visitors should plan extra time to explore the surrounding hiking trails and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
