Trail Overview

Glade Mountain Road transitions from pavement to dirt at the intersection of Glade Mountain Road and Mulberry Lane. This scenic route provides a beautiful drive through additional sections of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Several ponds can be found along the route; however, only one is easily accessible without hiking and can become crowded during peak times. While the trail is not particularly technical, drivers should remain attentive for deep mud holes, especially after rainfall, as well as oncoming traffic around the trail's fast, blind corners. For travelers exploring the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (MABDR) or the Virginia TransAmerica Trail (TAT), this Forest Service road is an excellent addition, offering approximately 15 miles of enjoyable dirt-road travel.
