Trail Overview
Colon Hollow, designated as Forest Service Road 782, begins directly across from the North Creek Campground. The trail starts at a historic log cabin, which serves as a notable landmark, though the structure is not open for entry. The route is easy overall, consisting of a well‑maintained gravel surface with low vegetation and no meaningful obstacles. It’s an excellent option for campers seeking free dispersed sites, as numerous spots are located along the length of the trail. This contrasts with the paid North Creek Campground across the road, making Colon Hollow an alternative for those looking for no‑fee camping. The trail ends at a large circular turnaround, which also functions as a suitable campsite with ample space for vehicles and tents. This trail is open year-round. Cell service is spotty, but there are areas with coverage on this trail.
