Trail Overview
Pond Trail, within the Sundquist Unit of the North Cumberland Off Highway Vehicle Riding Area, near LaFollette, Tennessee, is 2 miles long, meandering up and over small rolling hills on a muddy quad track. The east entrance to the trail is off of Fred’s Way Trail and has a narrow entrance between tall dirt banks. The trail has frequent dips, humps, ruts, loose rock, and mud puddles. There are narrow rocky climbs through the forest, through troughed sections where the trail has been dug out below the forest floor. It also has gradual shelf road sections and flat, wider sections, making it mostly easy, but still narrow. Watch out for some downed logs sticking out into the trail. The west end ends on Lee Asbury Road Trail 13.
Difficulty
This is rated Easy by the Cumberland Wildlife Management Area. The trail is overall easy because it remains mostly gradual, with the steepest part being the final descent towards the west entrance. There are not many rocks, but the trail has light ruts and puddles. The most difficult factor is the width during troughed sections, which will likely make it impassable for some wider UTVs.
