This user-maintained trail has a soft, silty surface and connects several routes within Sun Pass State Forest. The northern section is relatively narrow, and larger vehicles should expect some pinstriping from overhanging vegetation. Following a recent storm, numerous fallen trees were cleared from the trail, although many branches and cut tree trunks remain near the roadway and can protrude into the driving line. Exercise caution to avoid sharp limbs that could contact your vehicle. As the trail continues south, it gradually opens into a much wider and more enjoyable forest drive before reaching an area of previous logging activity with several dispersed camping opportunities. Several clearings near the northern end also provide suitable campsites. Ground squirrels are common throughout the area, and a series of small humps and dips encourages slower, more careful driving. Overall, this is a scenic forest trail with a variety of terrain and good connections to nearby routes.
