Trail Overview

This beautiful user-maintained forest trail begins in dense woodland before opening into a burned area with views across the surrounding valley. The road remains in relatively good condition for an unmaintained route, although it becomes narrower as it continues, with vegetation closing in around the trail and pinstriping likely. During dry conditions, the tall undergrowth also increases the fire risk, so high-clearance vehicles should take care to avoid dragging the undercarriage or exhaust through dry vegetation. The trail eventually descends into a small staging and day-use area with ample parking and space for a couple of fire rings. The open location provides beautiful views over the valley and makes for a pleasant stopping point. Wildlife sightings along the route have included foxes and pheasants. The trail has a seasonal designation and is open from May 1 through October 30. Be sure to check current seasonal restrictions and fire regulations before traveling.
