Trail Overview
This very well-maintained trail sees regular use from logging trucks, so take care and watch for work vehicles. It begins as a wide gravel road with beautiful views through a lush, green forest, then continues along a plateau before entering a more active logging area. Here, the forest becomes less dense, with more visible logging activity and several wood sale areas along the route. The trail has numerous twists, turns, blind corners, and switchbacks, so keep your speed low and stay alert for oncoming vehicles. Sections of the road have become slightly concaved from storm damage and heavy logging traffic, and rockfall from the surrounding cliffs is also possible. As the route descends the mountain, the surface transitions from gravel to pavement while remaining mostly single-lane, with pull-outs available for vehicles to pass. Farther along, the trail climbs quickly into the mountains, gaining significant elevation over a relatively short distance.
Difficulty
The trail is generally easy, with numerous curves, switchbacks, and blind corners requiring extra attention.
