Trail Overview
FS 2076-600 is a brief, 1.5-mile backcountry transit that serves as a highly scenic, single-lane gravel road providing crucial access to multiple remote lakes. Throughout this short drive, off-roaders will navigate a track characterized primarily by deep, loose gravel and firm dirt sections. The environment beautifully shifts between dense, towering pine forests and open, brush-lined corridors beneath sweeping, cloud-filled skies. While the road provides an "easy rolling" experience, the surface frequently gives way to patches of chunkier, uneven rocks and noticeable ruts that will command a driver's attention. Because of the changing surface conditions, the route is distinctly seasonal and is strongly recommended to be traveled during the drier summer and fall months. Ultimately, this trail acts as a perfect, quick connector to explore the nearby lakes.
Difficulty
FS 2076-600 earns a Level 2 Easy-to-Moderate technical rating. The primary challenge on this 1.5-mile route comes from navigating the prolonged sections of deep, shifting gravel and managing the occasional ruts that have formed along the single-lane track. While the trail is explicitly described as "easy rolling," the chunky rock patches and loose surface conditions make a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle the recommended choice for a secure, confident drive. Standard passenger cars with low ground clearance may struggle with traction in the deepest gravel pits.
