Trail Overview

This route will take you from beautiful high lakes to a warming hut (North Blowout Shelter) with outstanding views. The roads are rough and tight in sections requiring a high clearance vehicle. You will pass through an area of black sand that has a ton of area to have some fun. The shelter does not allow for camping, but there are a significant number of great areas to camp throughout.

To start the turn off is not super obvious so dont miss your turn! Then once you pull in you might chose to air down. The trail will put you through several small rock gardens most of which 2H is perfectly fine. The trail will put you through spots right with brush so I hope you don’t mind pinstripes! The volcanic dunes are tuns of fun and super cool for a picnic or getting squirrely on the sand! There was snow on the ground periodically but not much. The lakes and fall colors were beautiful

Snow was waterlogged, and I had to clear some fallen trees from the path. But great weekend and had cell service the entire time. Bring a winch and/or a buddy

Trail was wet, but passable. 2 large areas with wheel deep standing water, with some fairly muddy spots. limited snow piles, and the sand was well packed. some large rocks, but all easy to navigate. Will need a few more weeks for the water to reside. don't drive into the meadow, you'll get stuck.

Great mid-level Trail with a few different options for routes. Some trees down right past the 2000900 rd. Ended up taking a side trail.
