Trail Overview
Stutts Redfield Road is a shorter trail running through the northern portion of the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge. As the first split off Dusty Road, this trail leads a short way through a beautifully wooded area. Despite its shorter length, the trail is relatively wide and highly accessible due to improved maintenance. Depending on recent rainfall, some sections may feature mud pits or larger ruts along the shoulders; however, these are easily spotted and can be avoided by staying on the designated trail. Additionally, this trail is an out-and-back trail and provides a turnaround at the end of the trail. This refuge is an exceptional location for wildlife viewing, with this particular route providing a dense, wooded habitat compared to the open fields found along other trails.
Difficulty
This is an easy Forest Service-style road that is generally wider than most others in the area. Only a couple of small bumps and ruts are present along the route, which are typically only a concern for low-ground-clearance vehicles. While the aforementioned ruts along the shoulder may require a bit of caution for certain rigs, they are easily avoidable by staying on the main trail.
