Trail Overview
Gaddy Road is a double-track gravel trail running through the middle portion of the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge. This gravel service road winds through a variety of habitats, primarily bordering open farm fields. The trail is generally easy, featuring only a few potholes and slight crowning that could potentially cause low-clearance vehicles to bottom out. It serves as an excellent spot for bird watching, offering potential views of hawks, falcons, and smaller birds alongside the occasional land mammal. Midway through, visitors will find the Gaddy Covered Bridge Trail—a walking-only trail that leads to a historic 1930s covered bridge. The trailhead is marked by a sign and features a small parking area.
Difficulty
The trail is generally easy, featuring only a few potholes and mild undulations that could potentially scrape low-ground-clearance vehicles. Additional caution should be taken regarding wildlife that may be present along the route.
