Trail Overview
Anson Access Road is a Forest Service-style, double-track trail providing access to the eastern portions of the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge. This out-and-back route winds through a scenic mix of dense woodlands and open farmland, offering a peaceful drive. It serves as an excellent corridor for outdoor activities, including sightseeing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. At the trail's terminus, visitors will discover a short access trail that leads directly down to the Pee Dee River, providing a secluded fishing spot or further sightseeing. The trail is generally easy, featuring a few potholes and rough patches, though it is usually well-maintained with minimal obstacles. Due to the maintained terrain, it can be driven relatively quickly; however, caution should be taken regarding potential wildlife or oncoming vehicles.
