Trail Overview
Ross Road is a wide, Forest Service-style road that provides direct access to the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge. As one of the longest trails winding through the area, it primarily runs through dense woodlands with the occasional clearing of open farm fields. The trail is predominantly a gravel double-track that is generally easy to travel, featuring only a few minor potholes and ruts along the way. Notably, portions of the route mark the boundary between the refuge and private property. Once inside the refuge, visitors can expect to see an abundant variety of bird and animal species, making this trail an ideal option for those looking to both explore and view local wildlife.
Difficulty
The trail is generally easy, featuring only a few potholes and small ruts that provide a minor challenge. These obstacles are typically no deeper than a few inches. However, additional caution should be exercised as local wildlife may be present along the route.
