Trail Overview

Enjoy this South Reno access road into the foothills, then follow it all the way to the Glyphs via the Lockwood Trail. The route is rocky throughout, so plan on slow going. Keep an eye out—wild horses are commonly seen along this corridor (give them space). From the top, soak in the abundant, sweeping views from Sparks across to Reno.

The trail was fun, but we ran out of daylight before we could go far enough to see any petroglyphs. It's pretty rocky and deteriorated and you have to go pretty slow so I would rate it at a 4/10. Great views of Reno and Sparks and saw a few wild horses, too.

The trail has some runoff damaged area as well as some isolated very sticky and slippery mud spots.
