Trail Overview
The North Fork Pratt Entry serves as the primary access artery to reach the vast network of backcountry trails hidden within this area of the National Forest. The route begins by crossing private ranch land on a well-graded road clearly marked with T-posts on either side, eventually transitioning through BLM land. It culminates at the National Forest boundary, where you will find excellent staging areas with enough room to drop trailers if you plan to explore the deeper trail network using side-by-sides, dirt bikes, or ATVs. Once past the staging area, this entry trail unlocks a beautiful region filled with small offshoots, trickling creeks, and dispersed camping opportunities. Expect spotty cell reception; there are generally 1 to 2 bars of LTE service that tend to fade in and out. If hauling off-road toys, take advantage of the staging areas at the end of the trail before the routes become too narrow for trailers. This route heavily traverses private property and active open-range grazing land. Be respectful of the ranch properties: stay strictly on the main marked trails, keep your speed low to minimize dust, and never set up camp until you are officially on BLM or National Forest land. Always leave cattle gates exactly as you found them.
Difficulty
The lower section through private property is a well-graded, smooth washboard dirt road. The difficulty slightly increases to a 2 due to some general rockiness and a narrower section as you get closer to the National Forest trailhead, though it remains non-technical.
