Trail Overview
Ninemile (FS 612) starts as a typical gravel road before gradually narrowing as the forest closes in around you. Farther along, it becomes a single-lane two-track with vegetation growing through the center. Several spurs along the route connect to other trails, including areas designated for ATV use, providing opportunities to explore beyond the main trail.
As you get closer to the end, the trail changes to more of a mix of mud and sand before reaching a T-intersection, with a private road on one side and an ATV trail on the other. There are also a couple of dispersed camping areas along the route. These spots are relatively open and appear easy to access and exit, but be sure to follow all applicable camping regulations.
Overall, Ninemile is a fairly easy trail with a gradual transition from gravel road to a narrower, more primitive two-track. The spurs, changing terrain, and camping opportunities make it a nice trail for exploring the area without requiring a highly technical 4x4.
