Trail Overview
FR 612A starts as a typical gravel road before transitioning into a mix of mud and sand. Along the way, you'll encounter washouts and mud holes that can hold water, adding some challenge depending on recent weather. There are also several dispersed camping areas along the route, providing good options for those looking to spend some time in the forest. Be sure to follow all applicable camping regulations. As you continue, sections of the trail become more enclosed, with trees and vegetation close to the trail and branches overhanging the road. Taller, high-clearance vehicles should use extra caution through these areas. Several ATV routes branch off from the 612A area, making this a good access trail for those wanting to bring a truck and trailer into the area and spend some time riding ATVs. Overall, FR 612A is a nice mix of gravel, mud, sand, and forest terrain, with enough variety to keep the drive interesting and plenty of opportunities to explore beyond the main route.
