Trail Overview

Elsam Road - Forest Service Road 345 is a gravel road that is suitable for high‑clearance vehicles to sedans depending on the weather conditions. The road follows moderate elevation changes with occasional rutted sections, washouts after heavy rain, and tight vegetation along the shoulders. Cell coverage is limited. Access to Turkey Foot Campground is located off Elsam Road. Turkey Foot is a first‑come, first‑served primitive campground equipped with vault toilets and basic dispersed-style sites and a day use area. Travelers will encounter a concrete low-water crossing. Multiple signs warn against attempting to cross when water levels are high or the crossing is flooded. Always use caution and never enter floodwaters.
