Trail Overview
This is a short trail, but it packs a challenge into a brief distance. The main obstacle is a steep hill climb marked by exposed tree roots that create natural ledges up to one foot tall. Careful tire placement and adequate ground clearance are necessary to avoid getting hung up. As you approach the top, the trail narrows between trees, creating a tight squeeze that demands precise control, especially for wider rigs. On the lower end, the trail drops directly into the large mud hole of Champlin’s Challenge, known for deep, thick mud that can halt progress quickly.
Difficulty
Despite its short length, this trail is challenging due to steep root-led climbs, tight tree squeezes, and the deep mud hole at Champlin’s Challenge. It requires traction, clearance, and careful driving to avoid hitting the trees and causing body damage.
History
This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.
