Trail Overview
FS 102 is a short dirt route on Fort Stewart that provides access to Canoochee River Landing 7 and three managed fishing ponds along the way. The route begins as a wide, maintained sandy road through pine forest before transitioning into a narrower and less-maintained two-track closer to the river. The final section has grass, shallow ruts, mud, and standing water that may become significantly softer after rain. The route ends at a quiet access point on the Canoochee River. Fort Stewart is an active military installation, and public recreational access requires the appropriate iSportsman permit and check-in. Areas may temporarily close for military training or other operations, so users should verify current area status through Fort Stewart iSportsman before traveling.
Difficulty
FS 102 is an easy dirt route overall, with a wide and well-maintained road for much of the drive. Closer to Canoochee River Landing 7, the road narrows into a less-maintained two-track with shallow ruts, muddy sections, standing water, and some overgrown vegetation. These areas are manageable in normal conditions but may soften and become more difficult after heavy rain.
