Webster Pass Road - FS 285

Originally was planning to do redone and got stopped by snow on the road near the top. Looks like some vehicles went off the road and made it. Webster was fine until the top of the pass where it is blocked by a 8+ foot tall snowdrift/cornice on the south side. Some vehicles also went off the road on the north side and bypassed the snowy section but we turned around. It seems like the only way to make it would be doing redcone then go off trail where it meets up with Webster to avoid the snow drifts but it would be pretty unsafe. The photo is taken before the final climb up redcone. Can’t see it too well in the picture but the red line is where you can see tracks off the road.

Wazzzup. Came from the Montezuma side. Any stock 4x4 can do this trail but you will have to plan your route and your friend who has a awd rav4 will not want to take their vehicle. The views at the top are good, not as dramatic as bald mountain or blue sky, but good enough for a weekday drive to catch sunset or better sunrise for the right lighting. The switchback shelf road that takes you down the other side is rough and I had some trouble getting past one rocky point and cracked an oil pan on my Bronco sport, fixed with JB weld and holding (thanks Cody). I explored Peru Creek after and found it more scenic, interesting with mines etc, and overall much easier with less rocks and less stress not fighting the 1937494 big rocks all over the road. Would recommend parking on top of the pass and hiking the trail to any of the summits fo better view.

Fairly easy trail for most high clearance 4x4's. No issues and trail is clear.

Little rocky and technical at the top and rutted at the bottom.

Definitely air down it is rocky. Beautiful at the pass.

Great Trail, unbelievable, breathtaking views 10/10, after making summit and heading down the other side towards Webster it is very narrow with a couple of spots washed out, although passable. Driving stock a Gladiator Rubicon.

Great trail. Enjoyable for experienced drivers and easy enough for beginners. Stay to watch drivers descend Red Cone. Tundra on 35s. Open diff. Stock H3

Obstructed by snow where Redcone connects and the continental divide trail crosses. Also had a group of Mountain goats walk down to us.

Completely open until about 30 ft from the top of the pass where there is a big snowdrift. Very possible with dirt bikes though.
