Trail Overview

I got to this trail by first completing the Fossil Ridge trail (from east to west), which, if started from the Gold Creek trailhead, leads you directly to the start of this trail. This section is a combination of two trails. McIntyre Gulch and Alder Creek Trails. If you continue further on to the east, you can also pick up the Bear Gulch Trail to make a loop back to Gold Creek via the main gravel road. All of these trails are on the difficult side of intermediate level. It's a lot of rocks and rock gardens, interspersed with short stints of flowy alpine trail through the aspens. You may encounter new deadfall trees across the trail, so be prepared to cut or jump the log. There are a couple of small water crossings, but they're very shallow and easy.

As with other trails in the area, you should have some advanced intermediate-level skills to complete. Expect lots of rocks and difficult terrain.
