Trail Overview

This scenic off-road trail winds through extensive sagebrush country and steadily climbs for most of its length, with only a few dips and brief descents along the way. The route offers beautiful views as it gains elevation, with several moderate climbs that vary from loose-rock surfaces to sections containing larger embedded rocks. Much of the trail is fairly chunky and requires attentive driving, although there are also smoother stretches where you can make better time between the more technical areas. Continuing toward the top eventually brings you to a high point in this part of the backcountry, where the trail connects with several additional routes. From here, you can continue toward the McCoy and Yarmony area or travel southeast to explore additional trails. This makes the route a useful link within a larger network of backcountry trails and an excellent option for exploring the area.

Difficulty

This trail includes several sections that require careful wheel placement, but there are no obstacles with rocks more than a foot high, and the larger embedded rocks can generally be navigated around with the right line. There are also two or three steeper sections with loose terrain that require additional attention, combining loose rocks with occasional embedded obstacles. Maintaining controlled momentum and choosing the best line will help make these sections manageable. As with many trails in this area, it is always beneficial to have a spotter available and the ability to air down your tires, which can improve traction, ride quality, and control on the loose and rocky terrain.
