Trail Overview
This scenic transition route provides a convenient connection among several other trails in this small but diverse area, making it a useful addition to a larger off-road loop. The route travels primarily through open sagebrush and taller sagebrush as it gradually climbs toward the impressive high cliffs near the trail's end. The road begins with a somewhat rocky surface, including smaller embedded rocks and occasional ruts, but remains manageable for most capable vehicles. During the final third of the route, the terrain becomes noticeably more challenging, with a section containing numerous larger embedded rocks that require careful tire placement. An alternate trail to the right provides a way to bypass this more difficult section and still reach the same general area. The route ultimately ends at a T-intersection, where additional trails continue in both directions. Turning left provides access to dispersed campsites.
Difficulty
With the exception of the large rock garden near the end of the trail, this route is relatively straightforward to navigate in dry conditions. The rock garden contains numerous large embedded rocks, with some rising more than a foot above the surrounding trail surface. This section can be challenging for vehicles with limited ground clearance or smaller tires and requires careful tire placement and controlled driving. Take your time through the rocks to minimize the risk of undercarriage damage, tire punctures, or sidewall damage, particularly when navigating around the largest obstacles.
