Trail Overview
This worthwhile route traverses beautiful mountain terrain between areas of private property and rewards drivers with spectacular views throughout the journey. As the trail winds through a series of switchbacks and shelf-road sections, expansive vistas open up across the surrounding landscape. Along the way, several optional shortcut lines provide a more challenging experience, featuring steep climbs that approach 40-degree grades and require careful driving and proper vehicle setup. Drivers who remain on the main route will find a more moderate experience while still enjoying the scenery. The trail ultimately ends at the boundary of private property, where multiple “No Trespassing” signs and an open gate clearly indicate that public access does not continue beyond this point. As with many routes in the area, it is important to respect private property boundaries and turn around at the end of the legal public access.
Difficulty
If you remain on the marked route and avoid the optional steeper shortcut sections, this trail is not particularly difficult in dry conditions. A vehicle equipped with 4WD and properly aired-down tires should have little trouble navigating the steeper climbs and loose-rock sections encountered along the way. Be aware, however, that several side routes branching from the main trail are significantly more difficult and intended for highly capable vehicles. Pay close attention to your navigation and stay on the designated route to avoid inadvertently entering more challenging terrain.
