Trail Overview
FS 225G is an out-and-back route that begins as a gravel road before making a right turn at a Y intersection, after which the trail progressively returns to nature and becomes increasingly challenging to navigate. Close attention to the map and faint tire tracks on the ground is essential to staying on course. One section loops right before rejoining the main line, and a portion of the trail has been overtaken by encroaching trees.
As the trail continues, it winds through dense, tight, and overgrown forest — narrow enough to leave pinstripes and belly stripes on vehicles pushing through. The trail ultimately terminates at a downed tree flanked by a large, dense section of new-growth pines with no viable route around. Proceeding beyond this point would require driving over a significant stretch of new growth, which is not advisable.
Difficulty
2WD/4WD high clearance recommended. Pinstripes and belly stipes are very overgrown, returning to nature. Trail ends much faster than track and has been consumed by new life on the other side of a fallen tree
