Trail Overview

Highbush 50040 is the last spur road off of McCormick Creek 6265 and is a one-lane gravel road with grass and vegetation growing over this rocky road. This road is hilly and full of curves and pull-off areas to allow vehicles to pass. This road is mostly treed with some muskeg areas. There is a lot of bear sign on the trail so use bear safety measures when leaving your vehicle. There is one possible vehicle camping area with a fire pit and room to park at the end near the Highbush Lake trail to the lake. The Forest Service has noted that Large vehicles and vehicles with low clearance are highly recommended to park at the junction and hike down the trail to the lake. There is a 300ft surfaced trail from the road to the lake used for boating, fishing, scenery, and wildlife viewing. Bring your own life jackets if you want to use the skiff that stays at the lake and when you're done please put the skiff upside down and secure the oars after use. This is a rainforest and washouts and mudslides are possible.
