Trail Overview
This remote off-road route branches off the south-north connector between Puerto San Carlos and Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos. The trail is a narrow, single-vehicle path--expect noticeable pinstriping if you're in a full-size rig. It runs as a relatively straight shot down toward the water, cutting through medium-density desert vegetation that becomes slightly thicker near the end. The sand here is shallow, around two inches deep, but due to the isolation of the area and minimal traffic, having 4WD or the ability to air down your tires is strongly recommended to avoid getting stuck if you veer off track. The route ends at a four-way junction, where a straight takes you to La Chiguilera, a left turn follows a scenic trail that curves along the edge of the mangroves, and a right turn will eventually lead you towards Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos.
Difficulty
While this trail isn't particularly difficult, it's recommended that drivers have some experience navigating sandy terrain. You should also be equipped to air down your tires or have access to four-wheel drive, as these features may be necessary depending on conditions.
