Trail Overview
This approximately six-mile east-to-west connector links the region's primary north-south routes and passes near several working ranches along the way. The western portion of the trail sees more cattle than vehicles, with faint paths carved by hooves rather than tires. About 2 to 3 inches of loose sand make this section the most technically challenging part of the route. Once you pass the prominent cattle guard, the trail becomes more defined, with firmer terrain and increased vehicle traffic. From there, the road winds through classic mid-desert vegetation on a narrow track before reaching a four-way intersection that reconnects with another north-south corridor.
Difficulty
This route is not particularly challenging, but four-wheel drive or the ability to air down your tires is recommended, especially for the first few miles on the western end. This section is rarely traveled, with 2 to 3 inches of loose sand that can pose traction issues without proper preparation.
