Description
The High Pond trail begins at Ganson Hill Rd East and travels through the dense, mixed-hardwood forest of the Green Mountain National Forest. The route follows a steady but moderate climb over rolling terrain, weaving through fern-covered understory and passing seasonal stream crossings. At the few unsigned trail junctions along the way, stay on the most well-defined path. The final stretch gently descends before arriving at High Pond, a quiet, scenic spot ideal for birding and wildlife observation. Moose tracks are commonly seen near the water’s edge, and the forest canopy offers vibrant autumn color during foliage season. Return to the trailhead along the same path. Bring insect repellent in summer, and always treat water from High Pond or surrounding streams. This moderate route is best enjoyed from late spring through fall, when the trail is clear and access is reliable.
