Description
The Half Moon Pond Trail begins within Bomoseen State Park, winding through a mixed hardwood forest that skirts the eastern edge of Half Moon Pond. The trail starts near park facilities and gradually climbs through shaded woods, with occasional rocky or root-covered sections that add minor technicality. Short side trails provide access to viewpoints, as well as a connector to Glen Lake Trail for longer outings. After curving around the pond, the route follows a road back to the trailhead. This hike is ideal for a short day trip in the Green Mountains or as part of a backcountry camping itinerary. The peaceful setting and soft trail surface make it a pleasant walk for most skill levels.
