There and Back
This route begins at the Silver Lake Trailhead near Lake Dunmore and climbs steadily to the summit of Mount Moosalamoo. The route follows a forested ridgeline through hardwood stands and pockets of spruce, gaining elevation gradually with a few steeper pitches. At junctions, follow signs toward Mount Moosalamoo. Around halfway to the summit, intermittent views begin to open up through the trees, offering glimpses back toward Lake Dunmore, Silver Lake, and the surrounding foothills.
As the trail nears the summit, footing becomes more uneven with occasional exposed roots and rocky stretches. The summit itself is mostly forested, but partial views open west toward Lake Dunmore and east into the heart of the Green Mountains. This route returns the same way, offering another chance to enjoy the lakeside scenery or detour to camp at Silver Lake. Though never overly technical, the route's moderate elevation gain and occasional muddy stretches make it best suited for intermediate hikers.
