The Hogback Mountain route begins and ends at the Blueberry Hill Inn Trailhead near Goshen, Vermont, winding through the northern hardwood forest of the Green Mountain National Forest. From the trailhead, follow the Beginners Loop and Catamount trails to Hogback Mountain Trail. The route includes a few steeper sections and areas of rugged footing before reaching the gap between Hogback and Romance Mountains. Continuing south, the trail passes an alternate parking lots before turning west to a clearing offering wide views of the central Green Mountains.
After the viewpoint, the route returns through mixed forest, with potential sightings of moose, deer, or raptors along the way. In late summer, wild blueberries can be found trailside near the higher elevations. The trail returns to the Blueberry Hill Inn Trailhead along a wide, mellow path. Views from the summit and quiet forest sections make this a rewarding day hike in central Vermont.
