Loop
The loop begins at the Dutch Hill Ski Area off Vermont Rte. 100 and forms a moderate route through the Green Mountain National Forest. Starting near the base of the defunct ski area, the trail climbs past ski slopes through northern hardwood forest. This stretch offers filtered views toward Glastenbury Mountain and a chance to spot signs of moose or black bear in the quieter parts of the forest.
As the route curves westward along the upper ridgeline, expect a mix of open and wooded terrain with occasional seasonal streams. From here, the trail descends back toward the trailhead, passing through increasingly dense forest and reconnecting near the base area. This is a low-traffic area ideal for those seeking solitude on moderate day hikes in southern Vermont. Bring water, follow bear safety guidelines, and enjoy a peaceful walk through this reclaimed ski zone.
