This well-marked route begins at the Rockwell Road Trailhead and travels through the Bock-Harvey Forest Preserve using a combination of color-coded trails. Start on the Yellow Trail heading south through mature hardwoods before turning right onto the Blue Trail at a signed junction. The Blue Trail climbs gradually, passing large glacial erratics and crossing seasonal streambeds before meeting the Finger Lakes Trail (FLT), marked with white blazes. Turn leftonto the FLT and follow it eastward through a quieter section of forest with fewer junctions. After a short distance, the FLT returns you to the Yellow Trail on the left—stay right again to complete the loop back to the trailhead.
This route offers a peaceful hike with moderate terrain, especially well-suited for short outings, nature walks, and birdwatching. Expect occasional muddy sections in spring or after rain, and be aware of hunting activity in fall. The highlight of the hike is the diversity of forest features and the opportunity to walk a scenic stretch of the FLT.
