Point to Point
Starting from the main parking area near the lower entrance of Robert H. Treman State Park, this route follows the Gorge Trail upstream past a series of waterfalls and along a dramatic stream-cut canyon. The trail climbs steep stone staircases beside the gorge, including sections with narrow ledges and footbridges, eventually reaching Lucifer Falls—a towering 115-foot cascade framed by sheer rock walls.
At the top of the gorge, connect with the Rim Trail to return downhill through open hardwood forest with occasional overlooks and fern-lined switchbacks. The loop combines rugged terrain with developed infrastructure, making it one of the best day hikes in the Finger Lakes region. Seasonal closures are common on the Gorge Trail, so check conditions before heading out.
