Amsterdam Beach Loop

The Amsterdam Beach Trail begins at a small trailhead off Montauk Highway near Deep Hollow Ranch, just west of Montauk Point. From the parking area, follow the wide, well-marked path through coastal forest and low-lying wetlands. At a signed Y-intersection a short distance in, stay left to follow the main route toward the beach. The trail weaves through open meadows and pitch pine stands, with occasional wooden bridges over muddy sections. Several side paths create optional loop segments, but the most direct route continues toward the ocean bluffs. As you near the coast, the terrain becomes sandier and more open, eventually leading to an unspoiled stretch of shoreline. There are no facilities here, and the beach is often quiet, even in peak season. The return route follows the same trail. Watch for ticks and poison ivy along the edges, especially in warmer months. This is one of the best beach hikes near Montauk for solitude, sea breeze, and coastal scenery.
