Loop
The Broken Ground Trails Outer Loop begins at the Curtisville Road parking area on the east side of Concord, NH, offering a well-marked network of multi-use paths across conservation land. From the trailhead, follow signs through gently rolling terrain as the route weaves through a mix of hardwood groves and pine stands. At early junctions, stay left to travel clockwise, eventually contouring around the edge of Turtle Pond Conservation Area. A few short connector trails allow optional detours or shortcuts, but the main route stays on broader, well-traveled paths.
As you progress, expect a combination of wide doubletrack and narrower singletrack sections, with some mild elevation changes that make for engaging but accessible hiking. After several quiet stretches through shaded woods, the trail gradually curves back toward the Curtisville Road side, closing the loop. Along the way, hikers may spot deer, wild turkeys, or seasonal vernal pools. Although open year-round, the route can be muddy after rain and sees some mountain bike use in warmer months. This is a versatile trail system ideal for local day hikes in southern New Hampshire, with easy access and peaceful woodland scenery.
