The trail network at Bachelder Town Forest begins from a marked trailhead on Youngs Hill Road in Loudon, with additional access from Kenney Road to the north. Managed by the Loudon Conservation Commission, this public forest offers several short, interconnected routes that combine into longer outings. From the main trailhead, hikers can begin on the White-blazed Harry-O Circuit for an easy walk near a marsh and beaver pond. A short red-blazed connector leads to a footbridge over Bumfagon Brook, linking to the longer Blue Loop. The Blue Loop gains more elevation as it winds through wooded uplands, passing vernal pools and a historic rangeway corridor.
A newer trail extension branches off the Blue Loop and offers a longer, undulating option with varied terrain and geologic features. The Kenney Road Connector at the north end of the Blue Loop provides access or an alternate endpoint for those starting near Lower Ridge Road. Trails are generally packed earth and suitable for hiking, trail running, or nature walks, with gentle to moderate grades throughout. Dogs are permitted on leash, and motorized use is prohibited. Bachelder’s trail system is accessible year-round, though parking may be limited in snowy conditions. With quiet woods, subtle elevation changes, and easy navigation, this is one of the most approachable day hikes in central New Hampshire.
