Description
The Tucker and French Family Forest offers a varied trail network across conserved land in Kingston, Danville, and Brentwood. Most routes begin from Tucker Road, North Road, or Route 107, with several short connectors and options for longer hikes. Starting on the French South Trail, hikers follow the Little River through pine-oak woods with regular views of wetlands. From there, Patten Island Loop branches west to a scenic beaver pond and old canal feature. The Driftway follows an 18th-century route past the John Page Boulder and into the forest interior. Trails like Mill Pond Loop and Tucker Trail lead through lowland wetlands, upland ridges, and past a series of active beaver flowages. Expect boardwalks, narrow footbridges, and occasional muddy sections near the French Connector and French North Trail. This network of easy to moderate routes is ideal for relaxed day hikes with a mix of forest scenery, water features, and local history.
